Jehu the Assassin

Now Joram had been in Ramoth Gilead with the whole Israelite army, ¹⁷  guarding against an invasion by King Hazael of Syria.

9:25 Jehu ordered ¹⁸  his officer Bidkar, “Pick him up and throw him into the part of the field that once belonged to Naboth of Jezreel. Remember, you and I were riding together behind his father Ahab, when the Lord pronounced this judgment on him,

13:19 The prophet ¹⁹  got angry at him and said, “If you had struck the ground five or six times, you would have annihilated Syria! ²⁰  But now, you will defeat Syria only three times.”

17:4 The king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea was planning a revolt. ²¹  Hoshea had sent messengers to King So ²²  of Egypt and had not sent his annual tribute to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria arrested him and imprisoned him. ²³

19:4 Perhaps the Lord your God will hear all these things the chief adviser has spoken on behalf of his master, the king of Assyria, who sent him to taunt the living God. ²⁶  When the Lord your God hears, perhaps he will punish him for the things he has said. ²⁷  So pray for this remnant that remains.’” ²⁸

Hezekiah is Healed

20:1 In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. ³¹  The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Give your household instructions, for you are about to die; you will not get well.’” ³²

23:5 He eliminated ³³  the pagan priests whom the kings of Judah had appointed to offer sacrifices ³⁴  on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the area right around Jerusalem. (They offered sacrifices ³⁵  to Baal, the sun god, the moon god, the constellations, and all the stars in the sky.)

24:2 The Lord sent against him Babylonian, Syrian, Moabite, and Ammonite raiding bands; he sent them to destroy Judah, as he had warned he would do through his servants the prophets. ³⁶
